Teenage girl Bagdad loves to skate around the streets of São Paulo. With her short hair, baggy pants and tucked-in T-shirts, Bagdad is full of confidence. At home, she is surrounded by defiant, self-confident women, but outside her house, she hangs out with other skaters, on the streets where machismo and chauvinism still reign. Her life will change when she meets a group of girl skaters. My Name is Baghdad is an authentic and optimistic drama about growing up, female friendship, intergenerational love and support, awarded the Crystal Bear for Best Film in the Generation 14plus program at the Berlinale.
