Zlatko Burić Kićo – actor

Croatian film and theatre actor born in 1953. He is one of the founders of the Zagreb alternative theatre troupe Kugla Theatre. After the breakup of the group, he moved to Denmark with his wife. He earned his professional breakthrough with a prominent role in Nicolas Winding Refn’s Pusher trilogy (1996), followed by a string of film and TV projects, including Stephen Frears’ thriller Dirty Pretty Things (2002). He has appeared in a number of notable roles in Croatian films, including Hana Jušić’s Quit Staring at My Plate (Venice 2016 – FEDEORA Award). His most recent role is in this year’s Cannes laureate, Triangle of Sadness (Golden Palm 2022) directed by Ruben Östlund.

Annabella Nezri – producer

After graduating in Political Sciences  and Law from the University of Brussels, Annabella Nezri started her career as a journalist. In 2014, with over ten years of production experience at different Belgian companies (development and set), she founded her own production company Kwassa Films. Producing feature films, documentaries and TV series, Kwassa Films aims to promote creative, engaged, and accessible projects to a wide audience. It also strives to contribute to the emergence of young Belgian talents on the international stage.

Nicoletta Romeo – Trieste Film Festival Artistic Director

Head of Programming for the Venice International Critics’ Week (1999–2006). She worked as a programme advisor for the Thessaloniki Film Festival and 4 Ecrans, Paris (2000–2007). In 1996, she started collaborating with the Trieste Film Festival as Program Manager, and in 2016 she was appointed TSFF Artistic Director. As a consultant, she has collaborated with Midpoint Feature Launch, First Cut Lab and Czech Film Springboard. In 2012 she co-founded the production company Mansarda Production. Among others, she produced the documentary The Last Resort (2016)  by Thanos Anastopoulos and Davide Del Degan, which premiered at Cannes.

Marija Apčevska – director

She earned her BA in directing from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Skopje and her MA in film and media production from the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles. Her short films have screened at festivals around the world and have won a number of awards. Bardo (2012) premiered in the Generation program at the Berlinale, while North Pole(2021) screened in the official Short Film Selection at the Cannes Film Festival, also winning the Golden Pram for Best International Short at ZFF. She is currently developing his first feature film.

Stefan Ivančić – director, Locarno Film Festival selector

Film director, producer and programmer. He graduated in Film Directing from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Belgrade. His short films have screened at many international festivals, including Cannes, Rotterdam, FID Marseille, San Sebastián, Visions du Réel and Torino. Among other titles, he produced The Load (Cannes FF – Directors’ Fortnight 2018) by Ognjen Glavonić, and co-produced You Have the Night (Venice Critics’ Week 2018) by Ivan Salatić. He is a member of the Locarno Film Festival selection committee and has worked as a delegate for the IFF Rotterdam. He teaches at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade and is a member of the European Film Academy.

INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM AND CHECKERS

Karlo Vorih – director

Born in Zagreb. To date, he has directed six short films. He has been an active member of the association Blank_Film Incubator since high school. He is a graduate student of fiction film direction at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. Since 2018, he has been holding film workshops for elementary and high school students and editing workshops, as part of Blank and the FROOOM film summer school. His undergraduate diploma film, Fall of Our Summer, won the Golden Pram Award in the 2021 Checkers program and the award for Best Fiction Film at Croatian Film Days.
