Teenager Tobi is spending summer holidays with his mother Kristina in Slovenia. Kristina is an artist, about to have an important exhibition in her hometown. Separated from his father and friends in Canada, Tobi is fed up with the small town where nothing happens, while the local gang bullies him because of the colour of his skin. As he waits for his father, Tobi starts hanging out with an intriguing girl named Tjaša, and Herman, a blind elderly astronomer. The old man and the boy grow closer, having inspiring conversations in which Herman teaches Tobi about the laws of the universe, which seem to apply to life on Earth, too.
